Happiness. We all search for happiness. A common method used by many is to step on people to find that happiness.
We know that hurting others is the direct cause of suffering. We know that. By creating someone else’s suffering, how are you going to get happy? It is impossible. Yet, people do it. They do it in search of the American dream. Right?
It is a harsh truth, but one does not need to step on other people to become rich or to achieve your dream. It is OK not to do that. People will admire you for not doing that.
I think we should always be aware of the surroundings. We should always be aware of people. That is why the first step of being happy is to be grateful. That way, we are giving importance to the things that truly matter. If you focus on that, that is what is going to prevail in your life. Right? Whatever you focus on is what will prevail in your life. Whatever you give energy to is what will prevail in your life. So, if you are not grateful, then, all you are thinking about is what you do not have, what you do not want. Right? Then, that becomes the prevailing thing. That becomes what you fear.
So, what you are focusing on, that is what you are projecting. Consequently, that is what you are attracting.
So, when you wake up in the morning, think, ‘I am grateful to be alive.’
When you go to sleep, think, ‘I am grateful to be alive.’
Plus, think, “I want to dedicate this precious human rebirth, at least partially, for the benefit of other sentient beings.” Start with oneself.
If you do this, it is going to change your life completely. I mean, you can do it one day and that is it but, if you want to have any success or any kind of result, then, you will have to be dedicated to this practice. You must be dedicated. It is foolish otherwise. Right? I mean how can you say, “I want to help all mother sentient beings,” but be lazy? It is ridiculous! It is just, ‘Blah blah blah,’ when you say that.
Ok. Great. Intention is important at the beginning, but it is not enough. We can have all the best intentions in the world until our comfort zone is not secure, or until our comfort zone is moved or rocked. Our intention will be nothing if we do not put it in practice in the difficult times.
So that is where the issues come from is our comfort zone. We are so comfortable in our comfort zone. Sometimes, our mind makes us think we are living in heaven. Sometimes, our mind makes us think we are living in hell. It is all just a perspective.
As Bob Marley said a long time ago, “You think you are in heaven, but you are living in hell.”
It is true if you really checkup deeply. Check your own mind. Take responsibility for your own reality.
This is a beautiful post. Sometimes I get so busy and tired, I just want a break from helping others, then I think what an extraordinary opportunity I have right now to participate, to give, to enjoy working with and for others, and then the weight lifts, and I feel calm and happy again.
It’s great where you say, “It is a harsh truth, but one does not need to step on other people to become rich or to achieve your dream. It is OK not to do that. People will admire you for not doing that.”
Thank you, Osel, your message is clear. It’s important!
